QAMEA

Qamea Beach Resort on Qamea (pronounced ngga-ME-a) Island off northeastern Taveuni sells itself as an upscale honeymoon hideaway, although honeymooners aren't the only people you'll meet here. With only a dozen Fijian bures, Qamea is both secluded and comfortable. You get amentities like air-conditioning, ceiling fans, mini-fridge, oversized outdoor showers, and a front deck. The whole resort was designed to resemble a traditional Fijian village, and the grounds are lovely. The best part may be the sandy white beach, but there's also a swimming pool and spa. The on-site owners are most attentive, and Qamea's standard tariff includes all meals, transfers, taxes, and most excursions. The only caveat here is that this may not be your best choice if scuba diving is your top priority, although it is offered.

QANTAS

While Australians may think they fly Qantas to Fiji because they get a ticket with Qantas on the front, it is a code share agreement and you will fly there with Air Pacific. Qantas owns nearly half of Air Pacific and Qantas Frequent Flier points can be used on these flights.

  • Animals or parts of animals (alive or dead) - remember, coral is an animal and shells part of an animal
  • Equipment used with horses or other animals
  • Biological specimens or tissues.

QUEEN ELIZABETH

While Fiji has been independent for nearly a quarter of a century, Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain is still Queen of Fiji - it even says so on the Fijian coat of arms and on the Fijian flag. It will be interesting to see if things stay the same when Prince Charles (or William) takes the throne.
